In Memory Of A Very Good Dog
Today, Sir Maximus passed away. He was 11 years old. He was the first dog we'd ever actually PAID for...bought him at a pet shop for $400. He didn't know what was happening to him, but I'm sure somewhere in his mind he knew he was dying. We decided to ease the pain by taking him to the vet to stop his suffering.
His little doggy bed looks very strange next to my bed now. I must get rid of it, I know.....as well as his special baby blankets that used to be my babies' blankets. The transition will be hard, as it's always been anytime I've lost a dog to age/illness.
I don't believe in an afterlife, so I won't say something like 'He's running around in the big playground in the sky' type of shit, cuz it's not true. I will, however, say that he was one of the BEST dogs I've ever had and going about my daily life without him asking me to cover him up or take him for a walk or let him have that piece of cheese that he always loved is going to be very, very, very hard.
Goodbye, Max. I wish there were people in the world that were as pleasant to have around as you were.
